Current situation : Done with my school assignment, watching Monday night football as Seattle kicks the sh** out of the poor Detroit Lions, sucks to be a lion’s fan right now haha
1. Always wondering what I’ll be eating next (is this normal?, should I get some type of diagnosis?..ha)
2. Am thankful to be back in school, excited for the future.
3. Wanting some dainty lights to hang around my balcony…procrastination much
4. Wishing I had a dog, preferably a golden retriever or lab
5. Enjoying my mental health textbook(secretly diagnosing people…sshh)
6. Wondering if I over/under share on my blog. My favorite bloggers are open books, and I love that because I feel like portraying perfection or your highlights on a blog…always, is so unrealistic and un-relatable
7. Hoping I win this year in my fantasy football team (a girl can dream)
8. Disliking passive aggressive behavior online. I long for days I didn’t own any social media accounts sometimes
9.Needing more inspiration in terms of blog posts
10. Thinking about the hike that was yesterday…..😊
Can you spot the fox?, FYI: I was terrified
Spot the white mountain goat?, unfortunately I didn’t have my camera with me, so the phone camera was what I was using.
Enjoy your week friends!
Ian and I recently did our engagement photos, and I decided it would be fun to do it ourselves vs a professional photographer. I know hiring someone would have probably yielded better quality photos but we both are very happy with the photos we got.
Reasons I did this:
1. Engagement sessions are usually a good way to choose a wedding photographer and kind of bond/be comfortable with them, and also get engagement photos (duh), but our wedding will be in Kenya so we won’t meet the photographer until a few weeks before the wedding so it wouldn’t have been helpful in that way
2. It’s fun and a good learning process for me because I love photography
3. We saved some cash and got good use out of my DSLR
Wondering how we did it?, if you are a blogger you have probably used a tripod and self timer technique before, for non-bloggers, yes we used a tripod and self timer (you can use a remote but I hate remotes)
I used Ian to focus and kind of frame the photo, clicked the shutter and ran to pose haha…..it was fun, we had some good laughs
We chose a less populated site at the park close to us(with occasional joggers and dog walkers) – it is easier to naturally pose without onlookers and a good way to avoid photo bombers
We had a casual and a dress up session, took us about an hour and a half. We did lots of walking though, since the 2 sites are kind of far apart. Took about 67 good photos haha, I think a professional photographer will do about 300 takes or even more, so don’t gasp at the 67 takes

I also binge read other blogs I like, and hadn’t had a chance to read recently. It’s so refreshing for me to read other people’s perspective on things related to daily
boring everyday life, and I also like getting inspired in terms of food, style, working out etc, some of my faves are delightfully tacky by Elizabeth, twenty seven by Michelle and Curious Natalia. I find this ladies blogs “from the heart” and very unique and personal. It’s obviously very brave for people to share their lives with the wide world web (the good and bad) and I respect such content, despite my disagree-ability or agree-ability. I honestly hope my blog will go into a similar direction, something someone can relate to, not just nice photos/clothes.
Today was weird, I woke up thinking I had the day off and was really confused when work called me to go in….ooppss!, I can’t keep track of my days anymore..
I also can’t wait for this week to end, its been hellish, but I am trying to stay positive. Do you guys ever miss school/classes?, I do.. I miss learning new things and being excited to finish projects in college, and I honestly can’t wait to go back because I am really struggling to like my new work position. I don’t want to quit just because am unhappy there, I know its only temporary so I’ll give it my best and hopefully things will look up soon.
yay to career change thoughts!!
Stay positive friends, it’s almost spring 🙂
Last week was literally one of my hardest weeks at work, at one point I felt like bursting into tears because of how crazy everything was getting and am glad I work with some really helpful people. But these kind of days make it worthwhile when you have some days off.
All that aside, this was the most epic weekends I’ve had in a long…long time. I found out the bf had a weekend off too and so he decided to take me to one of my bucket list places in WA – Palouse falls.
There were many obstacles that played against us on this weekend together, like my bf being unable to finish work until 12:30noon on Saturday( Palouse falls is 4 hrs away and we had initially planned on leaving by 8am), so I drove the whole way like a mad woman so we would get there at least by sunset and hopefully get sunset views at these amazing waterfalls. On getting there (after a very emotional 3.5hr drive, with the bf trying to convince me we should just drive into Yakima instead and go there on Sunday) we got to the beautiful falls in good time, parked right In Front of the amazing view and basically had the most amazing time walking around and enjoying the whole place.
As you can tell it was an overcast day but these pictures don’t even do Palouse falls justice, it is beautiful, esp if all you see in wa is the greenery, it’s a nice change, seeing how nature re-arranges itself to create incredible things like these(who knew we could find waterfalls in the middle of eastern Washington?)…And the bf was really happy too 😀
We went to Yakima for some more planned events.
I think summer came early in the pnw and am not complaining, the weather has been gorgeous all week and I finally got to enjoy it today, even though I have become accustomed to the rainy and cloudy days. My work week has been very eventful and I couldn’t wait to get a break from all of that, and soak up on some vitamin D.
I almost never wear jeans, since I spent half of my teenage life in jeans, so I decided to double it up!, I used a red belt to pop some color since my shoes matched the denim haha, I needed comfortable shoes I could walk in.
Denim shirt: old navy// pants: HM//shoes: target
tips on a double denim look: wear a different tones of denim, don’t accessorize with more than 2 items, wear different color shoes or belt.
Do y’all (pun intended) like the other side of WA?, I felt a little “mid western/southern cowboy” I have to say. I enjoyed playing with the sunset because I never get the chance to take sunset photos, it was fun.
So my sister did a remix with this cute print top, styling the top with a skirt and pants. I love them both but I have to say the skirt wins it for me!, for starters, shopping in Kenyan markets almost guarantees unique finds like the dress top. I think the print is rather unique, have you seen/do you own a print like the that?
And the shoes are to die for! I always shy away from bright colored shoes, esp pink but now am convinced I could rock them. I think I would call this outfit bold and fierce , same words I would describe my sister lol.
Let’s not forget the clutch too, so cute! I could definitely see myself with that. All in all I love the remix style, the pants would be perfect for a day of shopping and running errands, while the skirt would be perfect for dinner, brunch or church, which is what my sister dressed it for.
I think this is a good example of being well dressed without wasting money on clothing items, I hear a lot of girls talking about how dressing up daily would cost them money, but dressing up doesn’t mean wearing designer clothes and new clothes everyday (unless of course if you can afford that – then read no more lol), learning to shop your closet, buy sales items and thrift shopping can result to amazing outfits.
Lastly, is that hair style a Kenyan trend now? Lupita nyong’o had a similar hair style for SAG awards and I saw a lot of girls saying it wasn’t age appropriate and that she looked like a child?
I think it’s very cute and appropriate for adults. What do you think guys?
“Stay inspired and stylish my friends” ✌️
This is definitely my favorite winter dress from F21. It was love at first sight when I saw it one lovely evening after binge-watching madmen and feeling very “1960s”. I adore 1960s fashion like no-one does!!!, so cute and perfect.
Lately I have been finding a lot of inspirational personal blogs that have sparked something inside in terms of fashion. I hate dressing like a slob, especially because my work involves wearing scrubs that are not flattering at all, and I wear them almost every single day of the week. Therefore putting an outfit together is rather important. I am the kind of person who gets dressed up to a coffee shop to people-watch (especially tacoma or Seattle coffee shops where i get to see eccentric fashion styles that just make me happy)
Street style is definitely my thing, i love seeing people in the streets with all their different personal tastes. That’s why I fall hard in love with independent fashion bloggers that are raw and realistic, style comes in all shapes and sizes and it is important for girls of all sizes to feel beautiful through whatever it is they decide to express themselves through.
I had the epiphany that light was laughter and laughter was light, and that this was the secret of the universe 🙂
Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit
Things am really excited about right now? having a day off from the long stretch of draining work days. I love my job, but working with sick people who constantly need you for help can be draining in ways I cannot describe. My whole thing was looking forward to binge-watching madmen, listening to my favorite audiobook (the goldfinch) on my commute from work and hanging out with my favorite person, but I have finished both madmen and the book and I don’t know what to do with myself anymore! I got into Hart of dixie for a while because of all the cute outfits the cast wears but I just fell off that train (too much cliches in the storyline) and started watching parks and rec for some laughs. It’s also unbelievable that January is almost over and tax season is upon us (yes please). I have to say that I am loving my new attitude in this cold and grey weather, I have been very outdoorsy, trying new things, complaining less…..lets hope this carries on until spring.
I didn’t realize how much school consumed my life until now, even though i have a full-time job, I feel so free (even though i wish i had more hours in day) and “normal”, i guess the fact that i was always a full-time student for the last four years had just become a normal for me and stress was part of my life without even noticing.
On other news, I recently wore this cute top from f21. I went to the mall to use up my hm gift card and could not resist popping into f21 after I got an email stating all sale items were 50% off!!!, unfortunately i didn’t get a sale item(after hrs of searching for something cute – everything was in large sizes 🙁 ), so I walked to the spring section and fell in love with this fabric:
So I ended up with the peter pan collar crop top(i live for the 60s 🙂 ) and a jumper/romper with the same fabric, I haven’t worn the romper yet, but here are more pics of the crop top:

This season for some odd reason all my dreams are comprised of camel colored Blazers/coats, despite the fact that it’s not fall anymore but who care about rules?.I love how subtle and warm the color is, and the many possibilities you have with it in terms of outfits. I recently pinned this outfit;
And then my sister wore a similar outfit on her birthday (and no, she didn’t know about my obsession) – you know what they say about great minds 😊
This is what she wore as she celebrated her birthday and ran errands around the city (Nairobi)
I fell in love with the washed out jeans and how well the leopard print flats went with the whole outfit ( as far as we are concerned here, leopard print is neutral 😉)
Am left wishing I was back home so I could steal some pieces of this outfit, and enjoy the 70 degree weather too…
