This weekend, I am off a long stretch of work days and all I want is to relax and recover from the physical drain that nursing comes with. I have been enjoying reading blogs and seeing what people have been up to, since I can’t catch up when I am working.
I got a few snaps of what I am wearing in downtown Springfield, MO. Springfield is a small midwestern town with a lot of beauty hidden in it. I stumble upon beautiful gardens and houses while driving from work or going grocery shopping and I am amazed by the number of coffee shops in this little town. Good ones too. There isn’t a lot of diversity here so I feel like I get a lot of stares (which I don’t care for) in places, and conversation starters are always like,”are you from Springfield?” I don’t know what to make of these interactions yet, but I love the town aesthetic so far. Lots of colorful and cute cupcake shops everywhere.
Oh, and I learned a beautiful mess sisters are from Springfield, how cool. I am yet to visit Emma’s restaurant : the golden girl rum club, if I do I will let you know how that went.

Be thrifty and shop the sales.
This is my only advice because it has worked wonders for me. I have noticed some of my cheapest clothing is what I look most classy in, and some of my most expensive items I don’t even wear that much and barely feel that stylish in. I am not saying it’s 100% not worth buying expensive name brand items, but when you score some “hot & classy” items on the sale rack, it does make you feel a certain way haha.
I scored this jumpsuit at Ross for 10 bucks! (not even joking), when I needed a last minute classy piece of clothing to wear to Ian’s residency graduation. The occasion was semi-formal dinner and I wanted to feel very elegant in whatever I was wearing. My first time ever attending a semi-formal grown up dinner event, I wore a dress that literally made me feel like a potato haha, and I never wanted to have that feeling again!
My favorite thrifty finds (designer labels on sale) stores are Marshalls and Ross. Ross can be a little overwhelming sometimes if it is a disorganized store, but I have found some treasures here.

Casual look of the week – crop tops
I don’t wear crop tops as much as I would love, but the two that I own, I absolutely love them. Crop tops back in the 90’s were almost a taboo because most people were more conservative and didn’t want skin showing, (at least where I lived at the time) so my parents absolutely forbid me from wearing them, but I secretly admired the style when I spotted models on magazines or TV wearing them.
Fast forward, they’re back now and better than ever. This is one of my two crop tops, it’s more casual and I mostly wear it with high waisted jeans (the classic way to wear crop tops). As a short girl though (5’1), I feel like the look doesn’t pop as much as it does in a taller girl, but I’m still in the search for some nice high waisted jeans and more crop tops.
I paired the casual look with my target Keds because I was going to be running around all day and needed comfortable shoes.

We recently went hunting for wineries in Missouri, and found one about 35 minutes from us. If you love your wine, please stay clear of Missouri wineries, it wasn’t quite what I thought it would be. The weather here doesn’t really work in favor of good flavorful grapes, and the result is an almost-bland wine. I will however not let that experience stop me from visiting more wineries, because who knows, I may get surprised, I have seen people say good things about other places, so there’s still hope.
This is the Outfit I wore for the day date to the winery. This heels remain my favorite because of how comfy they are. I can walk a whole day in them and not get any blisters or sore feet.

Jeans – H&M

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you all are having a great start of the week. See you next time!
Hi lovely people, I am officially done with spring break, which was a lot fun!, time for real life to begin now.. going back to lots of studying/work. Since its almost June, I have been on the lookout for a nice dress for graduation, or just a dress I could wear to a nice grown up dinner, so when eShakti (a custom-made clothing company)contacted me for a collaboration, I immediately went on their website and chose this dress!. I had seen other girls talk about eShakti, so it wasn’t all new to me. My favorite thing about them is the fact that you can customize your clothing to your liking, how great is that?. They have sizes 0-36W and also very diverse styling (modern chic, edgy, vintage..everything). Their prices are also very affordable for custom-made, quality clothing.
Here’s how it works:
1. Go on eShakti and choose an item
2. customize to your liking
3. Order and receive your item in 5-7 days! if you live in the U.S
What I chose:
I chose this black floral dress because I loved the sunflowers on it and also the cut of the dress. When I received it, it looked exactly like it did online, and the fabric is high quality from the feel. It fit me perfectly, I am very impressed. I wore the dress with minimal accessories to avoid having a “busy” look, since my dress is floral, then paired the look with my favorite Marshalls heels.
My favorite picks on the site: this , this , and this black and white one
I chose to omit the pockets because honestly I didn’t think I would use them, and they would just make my hips look wider haha. That’s all I did, then ordered my size and the style as it was. If they don’t have your size, you could put in your measurements, and you can also customize the style, e.g: long or short sleeves, round or v-neck etc
I hope you loved this post, am glad you stopped by.Enjoy this promo code:”purejackie” for 10% discount on any purchases from 04/05/2016 – 05/05/2016, for more inspiration from eShakti – Facebook // instagram// pinterest
Thank you eShakti for the lovely dress, all opinions are my own.
When I put together this outfit I was amazed at how well everything went together, because I have had this items in my closet for a long time and never thought to pair them together. I love when I can shop my own closet instead of spending money buying new “trendy” items every season, like seriously?, that is not real life…at least in my opinion, but no offense to more trendy people who go in that direction, I love watching the trends anyway, am just too poor haha, I digress, I just want you to know that looking good doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg.

Are you all excited for warmer, brighter weather?, I am so ready! I feel more motivated to do things now since its sunny on most days. I especially love the sunsets, and of course the blossoming flowers everywhere, its so beautiful and everything feels so alive. I love it.
Here are some spring quotes for you:
Spring will come, and so will happiness. Hold on. Life will get…warmer. – Anita Krizzan
“Some old-fashioned things like fresh air and sunshine are hard to beat.”
I’m sorry for the things I said when it was winter
If we had no winter the spring wouldn’t be so pleasant.
Yesterday I got off work and couldn’t wait to change into something comfortable, but I couldn’t wear pajamas since I had to run errands first, so I slipped on my softest dress top and my Old Navy tights, then decided to wear my denim jacket and when I looked in the mirror, I felt like a 90s kid with my afro puff and oversized denim jacket haha. I adore old fashion trends; effortless and unique. While I like to look well put together in modern fashion looks, there’s something about older fashion trends that makes me a little happier.
Anyone excited to end this year?

You’ve probably heard this a million times and in so many ways, but…..from me to you….Merry christmas and happy holidays to those who don’t celebrate christmas. It’s officially that day we’ve all been preparing for. I unfortunately haven’t spent christmas with my family for a couple of years, but I spend most christmas days with friends, or extended family who live many states away. My first christmas away from my family was actually ok, I had an awesome group of friends from college and we cooked a ton of food, exchanged gifts and just had a good time with the girls. My second christmas without my family was the toughest, I chose to work extra shifts at work to distract myself because I was so homesick, it also snowed a ton in Washington and I had no power in my apartment for 3 days!!! – worst christmas ever (ha)
The other christmas days after that(2), I would either spend it with my roommate and some friends (invite people over) or with my fiancé and co-workers, nothing too crazy haha. This year, a friend invited us to a christmas party, but I will be working late that day, and am planning on getting some yummy food for my co-workers who worked all day christmas 🙂
On the other hand, my family gets together every year with everybody else in the family (I have a huge family), and just have a good ol’ time while sending me photos and videos of everything I am missing ;( Next year though, I will be going home for christmas, so thats something to look forward to.
What are you guys doing for christmas? Anything fun? I wanna know..
For all of you that don’t get to do much/see family for christmas, it is not the end of the world, the true meaning of christmas is in your heart so don’t feel left out by everyone else having a good time.
Again, Merry christmas! Happy holidays!

In case you are wondering, no I am not in Brooklyn New York (ha), wouldn’t that be lovely? My title is from the movie Brooklyn which I saw a few weeks back with some wonderful company. Ian was dragged along of course, and he rolled his eyes every time we mentioned the movie, because it is a love/romance story that he thought was too girly for him, but later agreed it worth the time. I cried nearly the whole movie, so you know its an amazing love story haha. So I highly recommend it if you haven’t seen it, maybe a good movie to see with family or friends over the holidays.
Ok, in this post I will be mentioning a couple of my favorite things this season that I recommend you try if looking for things to do with others/for others.
- See a play; a charlie brown christmas play(good for kids too)// what a beautiful life// The nutcracker (I love the nutcracker!!)
- Make a meal for everyone; Cranberry and pomegranate bruschetta (I felt tears in my eyes after biting into this..you have to try this)// cranberry margaritas – you can make it non-alcoholic if you like// bacon wrapped brussels sprouts – perfect appetizer, literally took me 10 mins to prep and 30 mins in the oven..love it// potatoes – this are very good, everyone will like them// Eggnog French toast – even if you don’t like eggnog, this you will like.
- Go outdoors and do an activity – there are so many outdoor activities around the holidays, from shopping, snow sports (skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, or just walking) to just taking a stroll outside with after a big meal.
I hope you are all having a wonderful christmas eve, enjoy time off of work if you have it, and as always thanks for stopping by, I appreciate it.

Today is a very exciting day for me because I am officially done with finals!..boom..drops mic and walks away…haha, seriously though, I wanted fall quarter to be over so bad. I am always excited the first few weeks of school, then after that things start to get a little boring for me. It was a fun school quarter though, I have great classmates, and that makes things seem like they are going much faster than they actually are.
Even though the sun has been setting at 4p.m lately, I managed to squeeze in a little photo session of my outfit today. I have been thinking of how much people spend around christmas time buying new outfits, whatever’s in etc, and am trying hard not to fall into that trap, because most holiday outfits are things you never wear again. I am not saying that my wallet hasn’t suffered this holiday, but I am trying hard not to buy things I will never wear again. I like to be practical about things.
In today’s outfit, I am wearing a coat I bought 2 years ago at old navy. I honestly love old navy’s winter selections, they have good quality coats (they go a long way) and leggings too. My boots are at least 2 years old too, from Marshall’s. I get a lot of compliments on these boots even though they seem like any other boots. The dress is fairly new, I bought it in the summer from Target, and denim shirt is also from old navy (old)
I hope you are all enjoying your holidays so far, I am excited to wrap gifts and start sending them out, and also decorating my little apartment some more.
I also plan on blogging more while am on my break and going on some adventures (I can finally do some snow-shoeing!!, am excited). It has been snowing non-stop on the mountains and this is my last winter in washington, so I plan on doing all the things I have always wanted to do here. Be safe and warm everyone, and keep out an eye for more posts, possibly every other day.
I love you guys and thanks for all your support this year.
