German pancakes have become one of my favorite breakfast meals. The first time I ever heard of a dutch baby was at a b&b in camino island, where this old lady made us breakfast using an old recipe she had kept throughout the years, and I chose the blueberry dutch baby which was to die for!…literally… haha, and when I got home, I couldnt wait to make one!
Thank God for the internet, there are so many variations of german pancakes out there to try, but my favorite remains to be the blueberry dutch baby, so I decided to share the recipe, which is really easy btw. Enjoy
3/4 cup of milk (warm)
3/4 cup of all-purpose flour
pinch of salt
2 tbs unsalted butter
1/2 tsp lemon juice
1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
1 tsp sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
cinammon and nutmeg for flavor (optional)
– Pre-heat your oven to 400 degrees F
– Place a heavy iron cast pan into the oven with the butter to melt
– Meanwhile, mix all liquid ingredients completely (I start with eggs and milk), then add all solid ingredients and mix until the batter is smooth
– When the butter in the oven is melted, carefully swirl in the pan to coat it well and then pour the butter into the batter mixture and whisk for a minute, to blend well.
– Pour batter into the iron cast pan, carefully add blueberries evenly into the mixture and return pan into the oven to bake for 25 to 30 minutes
– It should puff up and brown around the edges
– Serve and enjoy (you can add syrup if you like it sweet or sprinkle powdered sugar on top)

Hopefully it will stop raining so I can do get out of the house. Today I really wanted to blog but had nothing to say ha!, so I decided to try do a self-potrait.. you like?
I also binge read other blogs I like, and hadn’t had a chance to read recently. It’s so refreshing for me to read other people’s perspective on things related to daily boring everyday life, and I also like getting inspired in terms of food, style, working out etc, some of my faves are delightfully tacky by Elizabeth, twenty seven by Michelle and Curious Natalia. I find this ladies blogs “from the heart” and very unique and personal. It’s obviously very brave for people to share their lives with the wide world web (the good and bad) and I respect such content, despite my disagree-ability or agree-ability. I honestly hope my blog will go into a similar direction, something someone can relate to, not just nice photos/clothes.
This is definitely my favorite winter dress from F21. It was love at first sight when I saw it one lovely evening after binge-watching madmen and feeling very “1960s”. I adore 1960s fashion like no-one does!!!, so cute and perfect.
Lately I have been finding a lot of inspirational personal blogs that have sparked something inside in terms of fashion. I hate dressing like a slob, especially because my work involves wearing scrubs that are not flattering at all, and I wear them almost every single day of the week. Therefore putting an outfit together is rather important. I am the kind of person who gets dressed up to a coffee shop to people-watch (especially tacoma or Seattle coffee shops where i get to see eccentric fashion styles that just make me happy)
Street style is definitely my thing, i love seeing people in the streets with all their different personal tastes. That’s why I fall hard in love with independent fashion bloggers that are raw and realistic, style comes in all shapes and sizes and it is important for girls of all sizes to feel beautiful through whatever it is they decide to express themselves through.
I had the epiphany that light was laughter and laughter was light, and that this was the secret of the universe 🙂

Things am really excited about right now? having a day off from the long stretch of draining work days. I love my job, but working with sick people who constantly need you for help can be draining in ways I cannot describe. My whole thing was looking forward to binge-watching madmen, listening to my favorite audiobook (the goldfinch) on my commute from work and hanging out with my favorite person, but I have finished both madmen and the book and I don’t know what to do with myself anymore! I got into Hart of dixie for a while because of all the cute outfits the cast wears but I just fell off that train (too much cliches in the storyline) and started watching parks and rec for some laughs. It’s also unbelievable that January is almost over and tax season is upon us (yes please). I have to say that I am loving my new attitude in this cold and grey weather, I have been very outdoorsy, trying new things, complaining less…..lets hope this carries on until spring.
I didn’t realize how much school consumed my life until now, even though i have a full-time job, I feel so free (even though i wish i had more hours in day) and “normal”, i guess the fact that i was always a full-time student for the last four years had just become a normal for me and stress was part of my life without even noticing.
On other news, I recently wore this cute top from f21. I went to the mall to use up my hm gift card and could not resist popping into f21 after I got an email stating all sale items were 50% off!!!, unfortunately i didn’t get a sale item(after hrs of searching for something cute – everything was in large sizes 🙁 ), so I walked to the spring section and fell in love with this fabric:
So I ended up with the peter pan collar crop top(i live for the 60s 🙂 ) and a jumper/romper with the same fabric, I haven’t worn the romper yet, but here are more pics of the crop top:
the back is supper cute – buttons all the way down
and of course i was wearing my h&m jacket- def a fav for this season
This season for some odd reason all my dreams are comprised of camel colored Blazers/coats, despite the fact that it’s not fall anymore but who care about rules?.I love how subtle and warm the color is, and the many possibilities you have with it in terms of outfits. I recently pinned this outfit;
And then my sister wore a similar outfit on her birthday (and no, she didn’t know about my obsession) – you know what they say about great minds 😊
This is what she wore as she celebrated her birthday and ran errands around the city (Nairobi)
I fell in love with the washed out jeans and how well the leopard print flats went with the whole outfit ( as far as we are concerned here, leopard print is neutral 😉)
Am left wishing I was back home so I could steal some pieces of this outfit, and enjoy the 70 degree weather too…
I love the quote above, so much truth in it and I thought I would share it for some Sunday spark!
So… I’ve been binge-watching mad men all day because am sick 😩, I thought about going to church but the frequent sneezing and watering eyes made me think twice. I am not a homebody at all and staying home all day was hard…lol, I cleaned, did laundry and cooked (a lot of cooking and eating).
Other than all the eating, I also did some nail care, my absolute least favorite thing to do..but I always love my feet so much better after. Here are my holy grail nail care items:
I decided to go with blue nail polish to match the winter blues (jokes)..😏
And glitter (because a girl can never sparkle too much)
I also love the Sally Hansen cuticle remover, which works wonders! and because it’s winter and dry, I use the johnsons baby oil to soften my feet.
Have a lovely Sunday ladies and gents
If you can’t tell by the topic that this post is about my latest favorite book then you need to grab yourself a copy. The Goldfinch is by far one of the best books I’ve read/listened to in a while. I read at least one book a month now that I’m not in school, and I have a grown-up full-time job, meaning I don’t have as much “free” time as I used to, so I try as much as I can to sneak in a book. Most of the time I use audible to listen to books on my commute to work (about 30-45 mins), and saves me from the public humiliation of displaying my dance moves to fellow drivers on the I-5 (I can’t pass on a good song if you know what I mean 😉 ). Anyhow, if you’re a bookworm and looking for a good book, the Goldfinch will not disappoint. It is a drama that made me cry and laugh out loud alone in my car.
On other news, here’s a weekend recap: I had the best weekend with some of my girlfriends I hadn’t seen in a while, I got to see Taken 3, which was AMAZING! Here are some pics of my outfit and deets 🙂
